The Bayleaf
Situated on arguably Colombo's most beautiful street - Gregory's Road. An old colonial style house converted to this fabulous Italian restaurant. The charm of the house allows for a dining experience that is ideal for a Friday night. A great meal with your family or enjoy an evening for two, The Bay Leaf is the perfect location.
Managed and operated by Colombo's well renown food connoisseur, Harpo, anything he seems to put his magic touch on to as far as food is concerned, guarantees that you will not leave you disappointed.
A great retro bar on the ground floor sums up the perfect evening.
The Bay Leaf also offers a delivery service and catering options too.
Environment
Very serene and inviting. Eating out on the porch or balcony on a warm evening can be a little uncomfortable, but they do have a section that is Air Conditioned. Every now and then the second floor can get a little musty but for the most part its quite comfortable. The building is fairly old with a large wooden staircase and wooden floors that may be the cause of it, but they try to ensure that the environment stays fresh.
Service
The staff are very friendly, obliging and inviting. The food takes a little long to be served especially if you are ordering one of their gourmet dishes, but that's to be expected as they thrive on ensuring high quality dishes. The pizza's arrive very quickly though.
Food
Excellent food. The pizza's are fabulous and the chef ensures that all pizza's are signature. Try the minced beef pizza, its probably one of the best on the menu. Pasta and lasagne are out of this world. I can't really put my finger on their best pasta dish as they are all awesome, but if I was to choose one it would be Tagliolini con Gamberetti e Funghi al Vino Bianco - AKA fresh pasta with prawns, mushrooms, garlic, white wine sauce and herbs
Value For Money
The gourmet dishes are a little pricey, but to be quite honest its worth the money. Pizza's are very reasonable priced
Overall
A great place for the perfect evening. Certainly one of our favorites. Every now and then The Bay Leaf will show a cricket or soccer match on giant screen on their lawn. Try and make it for one of them, its a great atmosphere.
Fabulous pizzas. Try the beef one. Don't know what its called on the menu though.
Their seafood pizza is quite good. The 19" pizza is always a fun challenge (not by yourself of-course) !
I've also had the spicy lebanese chicken a couple times - decent stuff.
Bay Leaf is located at one of the most beautiful streets in Colombo. The pizza are simply delectable. The food can be a little bit expensive, but is worth it. The service is pretty good with friendly service. The favour of pastas and lasagne can vary on different days, but it reasonability quite good. The washrooms are quite gloomy with the walls in black tile. There is also a huge marque with is ideal of corporate events (such as cocktails and corporate dinners). The place is regularly opened in the evenings because there are two schools on the street and that prevents anyone from visiting the restaurant.
The more recent changes include a predominantly Italian menu, and their own brand of authentic Italian pizzas, probably the best in town, called 'Harpo's'. There is a range of pastas, ravioli, 2 fish dishes and desserts which can also be ordered to take away.

This is the place to dine for Italian cuisines in Colombo! The best thin crust Harpo's pizzas ! also the Ambience is good ! Excellent service !
