This is undisputably the best Japanese restaurant in Colombo, even surpassing Ginza Hohsen, not least because of its unique ambiance. Nihonbashi means 'Japan Bridge' and Honten means 'main branch' in Japanese. The founder and owner is Chef Dharshan Munidasa, who has ensured that this famous institution exudes class and a superb Japanese cleanliness and authenticity. The menu is now given on an iPad, and it is probably the first restaurant in the world to do so. This means the menu can be dynamic, and changes can be incorporated easily, in an environmentally friendly manner.

Nihonbashi Honten, Kollupitiya

Inspired by it's fine Japanese cuisine and atmosphere, The Nihonbashi restaurant connects it's routes to produce an unusual dining experience!

Enveloped with a serene welcoming, the restaurant ideally enhances a glimpse of the Japanese culture. In addition there are reservations for rooms available with a beautiful background of white stones, bamboo trees and cherry blossoms framed out by a glass window. For a rather ethnic finish the tables are designed to fit the tradition as they are structured differently.

Very friendly and obliging, makes you feel at home.

Committed to perfection and ensures that every meal at the restaurant is a treat to the senses. The food is always served fresh. They also have the drive to procure the best ingredients also sets its branches at ODEL and the Hilton Colombo Residencies.

Expensive for two but definitely worth as it is the best in town for Japanese!

Super try. Must eat alot to fill in you're tummy!

First time experiencing Japanese food.Honestly the atmosphere and the quality of food along with the service was excellent. Both exterior and interior of the restaurant are maintained up to International standards. The welcome was pretty good as well. The way they greet the visitors with the charming Japanese welcome is truly commendable.Atmosphere-wise excellent. The prices are too high probably because of the products they are using. In fact the Tuna used here are of export quality.Try the prawn tempura, tastes so well.Go for raw fish as well Sashimi as well as Sushi. One should try the Chicken Teriyaki as well. However the place is kinda difficult to find since you have to travel along the galle face terrace, instead it should have been constructed near the main road.Anyways a good place to visit once in a way and enjoy a whole new experience!!!

Nihonbashi is one of the most expensive Japanese restaurants in town that services the most delicious Japanese meals. The decor of the restaurant is styled like a real Japanese restaurant. Some menus are on iPads. The dishes served at this restaurant are very different from other Japanese restaurants. The whole restaurant is properly maintained to international stands and is managed by the same owner of the Ministry of Crab. There is ample parking.
